This is a Golf safari to entertain the most discerning player with excursions for non-playing guests at all venues! This tour is a must for all golf enthusiasts and for those who encourage them! Whilst the golfer will gain a whole new understanding of knowing when to “take a drop,” the non-golfer will enjoy pampering and adventure! The two shall meet again in the evening when enjoyment of sumptuous meals will be shared together.

Considered to be the big event of the expedition, spend 9 days on The Pride of Africa, Rovos Rail — the most luxurious train in the world. Enjoy fine cuisine in five-star luxury as some of the most varied scenery imaginable unfolds beyond the windows. Recapture the romance and atmosphere of a bygone era, when privileged travelers experienced the magic and mystery of Africa in a relaxed and elegant fashion. Rovos Rail eloquently calls to a bygone era, inducing leisurely meals and luxurious naps while setting a rhythm that agreeably relieves travelers of any sense of time. Smart casual day attire gives way to elegant evening wear for dinner. The train departs and returns from Pretoria.

You will quickly settle into a routine on and off the trains. Each morning starts with a breakfast in the dining car, with the golfers heading to the courses while the non-players enjoy daily outings to local places of interest. At one stop, golfers can trade their clubs for a camera and enjoy a bit of game viewing!

Cart and clubs are provided, although you can bring your own clubs! Two of the courses are walking courses and a caddie will be provided. 

To Play or Not to Play?

Upon return from your golfing safari, you will travel to a private luxury departure lounge where you will board a chartered bush plane which will take you to your oasis in South Africa — Sir Richard Branson’s Private Game Reserve, Ulusaba — a place we feel at home and are delighted to share with our guests! A place where your pulse quickens, heart races and senses aroused … and you haven’t arrived to your room yet!!  

Upon arrival to the lodge’s private airstrip, you will be greeted by your personal ranger & tracker, who will accompany you on game drives during your stay. Your time will be filled with exciting adventure whilst in the reserve.  You will experience amazing sunrises and breathtaking sunsets. Star gaze from private observatory! Take twice-daily games drives where you will no doubt get up close and personal to the Big 5 (cape buffalo, lion, hippo, leopard and ellies) not to mention cheetahs, giraffe, warthogs, wild dogs and so much more! BEWARE! The animals will take your breath away and people will steal your heart.
